Over several months, I found myself spending hours every week reviewing social media content, evaluating brand voice, writing style, and value, while adjusting our team's content calendar to maintain the balance of our content pillars. This limited the time I could dedicate to strategy and other tasks. Driven to solve this gap, I wanted to see how I could utilize the content calendar file I had previously built for content review and performance to create a more automated solution.
To streamline our marketing operations, I built a custom AI assistant using Microsoft Copilot for myself and my team. It handles routine content reviews, tracks competitor updates, and automates social analytics reporting, saving 4 to 5 hours of manual work each week while keeping our company messaging consistent.
Compiled all brand and social guidelines and product messaging frameworks into a master reference guide to serve as the single source of truth to train the agent on our exact standards for tone, style, and pillar alignment.
Connected our central content calendar as the main source file for the agent to pull post drafts, view the upcoming calendar, manage team reviews, and track performance across copy, topics, and visual assets.
Set up a practical workflow where the AI assistant handled initial reads and content pillar checks, provided recommended edits and calendar feedback before weekly posts went to final human review, and analyzed competitor activity and post performance to generate strategic recommendations.
Asset & Copy Review: Evaluates draft web copy, sales handouts, marketing collateral, and social posts. It checks copy against company brand guidelines, verifies proper trademark usage, and provides writing suggestions based on writing style guidelines, value-led content and framing, and historical social post performance before final human review.
Content Calendar Review: Reviews entire social calendar to ensure post formats are varied and content is evenly distributed across core messaging pillars.
Competitor Scanning & Opportunity Identification: Analyzes competitor social news and web activity to surface content gaps, highlight product positioning opportunities, and generate fresh topic ideas in a summarized report.
Social Media Performance Analysis & Trends: Combines historical post metrics across post styles, formats, and copy approaches with current B2B LinkedIn trends to recommend strategy, high-performing content types, and topics.
Summary Reporting: Provides summary updates breaking down key analytics, top-performing content, and recommended adjustments/next steps for upcoming posts.
4 to 5 Hours Saved Weekly: Reduced manual review time on content planning and editing, allowing more focus on high-level strategy and campaign execution.
Accelerated Draft Review & Approvals: Streamlined initial feedback loops across web copy, collateral, and social assets prior to final approvals.
Streamlined Social Tracking & Competitor Reporting: Reduced manual reporting by automating the collection of social post metrics and market intelligence, consolidating multi-platform data into short updates with recommended next actions.
